Police – Biometrics and Facial Recognition

A custody image is evidence. It has to be taken after the PACE checks, on the webcam already bolted to the suite, and it has to be the same image the rest of the programme will rely on later.

Inside a larger police IT team we built the next-generation Video Witness interface: the officer works the checks, the camera captures the still, and the system looks for biometric markers. Microsoft stack, multi-tier. We were a small unit on that programme. We did not build the national custody system.
