Install Gateway Solver.

One file installs a new copy of the desktop that files PAYE/RTI and CIS, and updates a copy you already have. Five steps, in the order that saves you the most time.

Five steps with one installer, in the order that avoids the common snags.

    Check the account and the firewall

    Use a local or machine administrator account, and make sure the firewall allows the hosts listed on the firewall permissions page. Both are worth checking before you start rather than after.

    Download the installer

    Download SetupGatewaySolver.exe. The same file installs a new copy and updates an existing one, so it is the only download you will ever need for this product.

    Run it on a current Windows machine

    Use Windows 10 or 11, or a current Windows Server. Older published requirements listed XP through 10 and Server 2008 R2, and while those versions ran it, we no longer promise that XP still files.

    Finish a new account, or update an existing one

    New customers complete the new customer setup form, which takes five to ten minutes, so the account can be finished. Existing customers run the same installer over the top, then open the product as usual.

    Answer the update prompt

    Gateway Solver checks for updates when it starts. Yes downloads the installer in the browser, and No keeps the current version. To stop the reminder, open Options and Settings and tick Disable automatic updates.

Version 2.95 and later talk to https://gatewaysolver.evolvedsoftware.com, so allow *.evolvedsoftware.com and the HMRC / Government Gateway hosts on TCP 443. The full host list is on required firewall permissions, and the startup prompt is written up in installing Gateway Solver updates.
