Development process
The company name is the method. We evolve a product with you until it fits the business, instead of vanishing for six months and arriving with a surprise.
A prototype you can argue with
We follow an agile approach: a prototype early, then incremental releases. You see it start, grow, and change. Defects get fixed as we go rather than in a single late dump.
The first release has some of the function. Later releases add more, until the thing is finished enough to install and train on.
The steps
Initial meeting. About an hour: how the business works, what has to change, what is new. Notes, a wishlist, and some idea of what is actually possible.
Initial proposal. Options, timescales, costs, and room for change. On a large project a functional specification comes next; otherwise the proposal is the baseline for the quote.
Design and development. First release as soon as it is honest to show. Iterations after that. Larger jobs may have milestones and invoices tied to delivered function.
Delivery. Install, training, and support for the finished product.
Sign-off. If we delivered what we promised and it is not full of defects, you sign it off and we invoice the remainder.
Further development. Once it is in use there will be ideas. Well-designed software should take them. That becomes the next cycle.
Maintenance. A period of support is included. Ongoing arrangements are in the proposal.
Intellectual property
At the end of a bespoke project we hand over intellectual property in the deliverable, and the source, so you are not tied to us for maintenance. We hope you come back. You should be able to choose.
